Playing the piano needs a lot of time, so practising efficiently is an
important thing. Apart from the tips you can find in the newsgroups
rec.music.makers.piano (by all means shy away from political
discussions in that group ;), I have found some of the following pages
contain useful material (I didn't have a very close look at all
of them):
Practicespot
I found the following one especially interesting:
Brent Hugh's Piano Home Page Piano Home Page
You can also have a look at the free piano book by
C.C.Chang who is a regular contributer to
rec.music.makers.piano. There
also exists a partial german translation of
the book.
Piano technology
A grand
piano action is a complicated thing.
Piano manufacturers
There are a lot of good
piano brands out there, especially here in Germany. The following
contains some links to manufacturers of quality pianos.
Pfeiffer
Bechstein
Schimmel
Steinway
Though Pfeiffer has no
real webpage yet, I included the link for the contact adress. My piano
teacher, Mrs. Christiane Voigt has a Pfeiffer upright, which plays and
sounds very nicely.
You can find more links and some descriptions on Pianos Inc's
website. There, you can also find information about how to buy a
piano etc.
