Christof Pflumm's homepage

Picture of mine
I'm a physicist working at the Imperial College in London. Formerly, I worked at the Lighting Technology Institute of the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. I received a doctor degree in electrical engineering in July 2003 from the University of Karlsruhe. For my thesis, I investigated dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs) in Xenon for light production and the homogeneity of nitrogen-DBDs by means of one dimensional computer simulations. The goal was to find out more about the loss mechanisms, especially for small gap distances as well as the physical processes leading to homogeneity.

Right now, I'm working on the modelling of organic light emitting devices, mainly organic laser diodes. One of the goals of the work right now is the realization of the first electrically pumped organic laser diode.

You can find some physics related links here.

I also have my curriculum vitae and related info here (in german).

My main hobby is playing the piano, which consumes a big part of my spare time.

I'm playing keyboards in a band called Cyan Mystic which also has a homepage where you can listen to some of our songs (the recordings are a bit out of date...).

I was born in the Black Forest, a lovely landscape with - you can guess it - a lot of trees. It's a low mountain range in the south western part of Germany, famous for it's cuckoo clocks. The little village where I was raised is called Hardt, that's in the vicinity of Schramberg, a small town which you should visit around February to have a look at the famous "Bachnafahrt", which is held every year for carnival (which is called Fasnet in that area).
